Location
On the upper chest, 6 cun lateral to the midline, in the 1st intercostal space
Needling technique
Depth: 0.5-0.8 cun (10-16 mm)
Direction: Oblique lateral (away from the heart)
Indications
Cough, asthma, chest pain, shoulder pain, lung congestion, bronchitis, rib pain
Contraindications
Risk of pneumothorax - do not needle deep or medial. Avoid in patients with severe lung disease.
